How Do You Recognize God’s Voice?

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 3:1-21

So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” 1 Samuel 3:9 NIV

How do you recognize God’s voice?

Better yet, do you expect Him to speak?

Hi, I’m Laura Lacey Johnson.

The prophet Samuel learned to recognize God’s voice after getting some helpful advice from his mentor.

In First Samuel 3, we learn Eli taught Samuel to say:

“Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”

That simple advice is still relevant today:

God speaks to those who listen.

Clear communication with God begins when we approach His word, expecting to hear His voice.

Now more than ever, we need to remain sensitive to God – even when those around us don’t.

As you open your Bible, tell God what Samuel did: “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”
